The Library seeks to honor our natural environment and commit to healthy spaces for our visitors by working to preserve it through sustainable design, reduced carbon footprints, construction, and operations.
LEED Certification
The LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Certification is a global solution for communities who prioritize sustainable design, construction and operations, offering guidelines to reduce carbon emissions, energy and waste, conserve water, prioritize safer materials and lower exposure to toxins.

"Green buildings are a hallmark of economically sound business decisions, thoughtful environmental decisions, and smart human impact decisions. "
To reduce stress on the environment, both the new Redmond Library and the Stevens Ranch Library in East Bend will achieve LEED certifications. This will ensure that buildings are energy- and resource-efficient, generating less waste and lowering the use of electricity, gas, water, and other precious resources.
We are raising $1.5 million to pay for engineering and design that will ensure reduced emissions associated with construction and operation of the new buildings. Strategies include solar panels, strategic window placement and shading, efficient landscape design, day-lit spaces with natural ventilation, and more.
Central Library at Stevens Ranch and the Redmond Library will both gain LEED certifications thanks the The Capital Campaign.

The Central Library at Stevens Ranch will include 100,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor space on 8.5 acres at the northeast corner of 27th Street and Wilderness Way in east Bend. The state-of-the-art library will incorporate community meeting and study rooms, co-working spaces, a children’s discovery center, a teen lounge, a creative DIY zone, outdoor spaces, and more. It is being built to meet LEED Gold certification standards and will be an all-electric building.

Located in the heart of Redmond’s civic core near downtown and area schools, the Redmond Library serves as a dynamic community hub. The newly designed library provides twice the square footage of the previous library and offers substantial public meeting spaces including creative/DIY space, large multi-purpose meeting rooms, a vibrant children’s discovery area with a story time space, and a generous covered patio for all ages to enjoy.
